Great pass through for steel cable systems. Easy to install and they stayed in (for the most part). A couple holes got slightly too large so I had to use some wood glue, but that kept it in nicely.
The drill bit that they include with this product is Too short to get through a 4 x 4 post. I had to buy a longer drill bit separately. Also it would have been great to have a way to get them on or remove them after the cable is in place.
A lot of work , but definitely worth it.
I installed a Viewrail Express railing system on a deck I built, and the Viewrail Express rails has no washer or bushing for the steal cables coming out of the posts. And I calculated the cost of ordering the extra washers from them if I buy them as extras and added them myself to the rail, and it came out to be more than $500 just for the washers. I found these on Amazon, and it cost me only little over $100 to add them to my railings, and it added protection to the cables and also greatly enhanced the look of the railing. Highly recommended for anyone using the Viewrail Express railing system!
I used these with a Timbertech composite post sleeve that was covering 4x4 posts. With these protectors, I could run the cable around the entire deck, about 45 feet. In addition to straight-through parts, there were several sections with odd angles of 30 degrees, and these protected the composite post sleeve. The result looks fantastic, and much less expensive than name brands. They are also thicker metal than other brands. Second photo is a closeup of a post where the cable enters at a 30-degree angle. I have received nothing but praise for the look that these helped produce.
